Report a number
Got a call that felt wrong? Report the number.
Type the number that called or texted you. You’ll tell us what the call was about in a few taps, and the next person who looks the number up will see it. Free, no sign-up, and your name is never asked for.
How reporting works
- Type the number above. It opens that number’s page, right at the report form.
- Choose what the call was about and how it reached you. Add a note if you like: only we read it, and it is never published.
- A quick check confirms you’re a person, not a bot. Your report is counted on the number’s page at once.
Visitor reports appear as counts and categories, kept apart from the FTC’s complaints. They never change a number’s stamp, because caller ID can be faked and a report can’t prove who called.
Report it to the authorities too
- The FTC collects scam reports for law enforcement: reportfraud.ftc.gov. Unwanted sales calls go to the Do Not Call complaint form at donotcall.gov, and those complaints are where most of the reports on this site come from.
- The FCC takes complaints about robocalls and faked caller ID: consumercomplaints.fcc.gov.
- If you paid or shared details, call your bank or card company first, using the number on your card. Then report it to the FTC, which gives you a recovery plan at identitytheft.gov if your identity was stolen.
Stop them coming
Reporting helps the next person. To stop the calls reaching you, turn on your phone’s call screening and your carrier’s free spam filter: how to stop spam calls, step by step for iPhone and Android.
Is someone reporting your number?
Scammers fake real numbers. If your number has reports and you didn’t make those calls, ask us to review its page.

Rather never get these calls at all?
PhoneShield answers your calls first. Known scam numbers are refused before your phone rings, the people you know ring straight through, and everyone else is asked who they are. For your own phone, or a parent’s.
