This site is run by Who Can It Be, LLC, the company behind PhoneShield. You can use it without an account, and we keep what we collect to a minimum.

Looking up a number

The number you look up becomes part of the page address. We don’t keep a record of who looked up which number. Like every website, our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses and the pages requested, to run and protect the site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to learn which pages help people. It records the pages you view (including the number in the address), the site that sent you, your approximate location (city or region), and your device and browser type, using a cookie. Google Analytics does not store your IP address. We don’t use it for advertising, and we use no other trackers. You can block it with your browser’s settings or Google’s opt-out add-on.

“This is my number”

If you ask for a review of a number’s page, the form sends the number, your email address and, if you add them, your name and message straight to PhoneShield, which runs the review. Your connection’s IP address is used to limit repeated requests. We use these details only to review the page and reply to you, and keep them as long as the review and our records of it need.

Reporting a number

If you report a number, we store the number, what the call was about, how it reached you, the date you give, whether you lost money, and your note if you write one. Your connection’s address is turned into a one-way code (a salted hash) so we can stop repeat reports; the address itself is never stored. Reports are counted and shown by category on the number’s page; your note is read only by us and never published. They are stored with Cloudflare.

To tell people from bots, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at signals from your browser and connection. See Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum. Turnstile loads only when you open the report form.

Email

If you write to us, we use your message and address to answer you.
